Today is the first day of fall, so now is the time to start
thinking about what you need to do to get your office and commercial property
ready for winter. As an office
cleaning company serving Burnsville and the surrounding areas, we can help
with your day to day office cleaning needs. And we have a few suggestions on
how to winterize your property.
The first thing you should do is walk around outside of your
office building. Look at all of your outdoor lights to make sure they don’t
need any repairs before the nights get longer and the days get shorter. Try to
do this during the evening hours so you can see if any light bulbs are burnt
out. You should make sure they are replaced as soon as possible.
Then you should look at any outdoor water spigots or
faucets. Make sure the water for them is turned off to help avoid freezing
pipes this winter. Frozen pipes can burst, and that can lead to a ton of
problems, like flooding, mold and similar issues. While our office cleaning
company can help with any emergency restoration issues you encounter, this is a
problem best avoided when possible!
You should also check on your office’s heating system and
test it to make sure it works. You don’t want to turn it on for the first time
when it’s cold out, only to discover it is not working! If you find out it is
blowing out cold air or none at all, call an HVAC company as soon as possible.
They tend to book up quickly this time of year, so the sooner you call, the
better.
Finally, make sure your office has plenty of salt, sand and
other de-icing materials. Make sure there is a shovel readily available for any
of your employees that might need it. Along the same lines, make sure to lay
down rugs in front of any outside doors leading into your office. That will
help keep your floors and carpets clean as people are walking in and out. Our
office cleaning service can come to your office on a regular basis and keep
your floors clean, but these rugs are a great way to prevent a big mess in
between our visits.
